Neapolitan sauce is the collective name given (outside Italy) to different fundamental tomato-based sauces derived from Italian food, usually served over or along with pasta. In Naples, Neapolitan sauce is just described as salsa, which literally equates to 'sauce'. Basil, bay fallen leave, thyme, oregano, peppercorns, cloves, olives, and mushrooms may be consisted of relying on taste choices. Some variants include carrots and celery. Outside Italy, the basic sauce is vegetarian, although meat such as minced beef or sausage can be added. By contrast, in Italy, the sauce dish lugging Naples in its name is a sauce called Neapolitan ragù.
